Enrollment at Kai Ming Head Start

Our programs are dedicated to supporting underserved families in our community, including those facing economic challenges, children with special needs, children in foster care, and those experiencing homelessness.

As a non-profit Head Start grantee, we aim to provide quality early education and support services to families who qualify under state and federal guidelines.  All families with children aged 3 months to 5 years are encouraged to apply–we’ll carefully review each application to determine eligibility for our State and Federally funded programs.

Our Enrollment Process

Step 1:

Step 2:
Review and Waitlist
After your pre-application submission, we will contact you within 2 business days.

We will review your application, assign priority based on your family’s specific needs and reported income, and place your child on the waitlist for the center(s) you’ve selected. 
Step 3:
Review and Waitlist
Once your family is found eligible for a space and a vacancy is available, one of our Family Advocates will reach out to verify your information.

Afterward, you’ll be invited to a formal intake appointment to complete enrollment and set a start date for your child!

Eligibility for Our Program

Kai Ming Head Start has different funding sources to support families with various needs. There are two ways to enroll: by categorical need or by income.

Categorical eligibility
 
You are eligible for fully subsidized comprehensive services at no cost if any of the following apply:

Homeless families
✔️
In public assistance such as TANF, SSI, WIC, CalFresh, SNAP
✔️
Children in foster care
✔️
Children in Child Protective Services (CPS)

Income eligibility
 
You are eligible for our comprehensive services based on your income level.
 
For a family of 4: 🔗 Related regulation

You are eligible for FREE service if your income is $171,450 or below
✔️
You are eligible for DISCOUNTED TUITION if your income is between $171,451 and $233,800
